.: Million Dollar Band Scholarships 2008 :.

A limited number of scholarships are available for participating in the Million Dollar Band. The range of scholarship assistance is from $250.00 to $1000.00 per fall semester. The majority of members participate without scholarship assistance. Awards are based on talent and instrumental needs of the band.

Applying for a Million Dollar Band Scholarship

  1. You must be registered as a full-time student at The University of Alabama.
  2. You must complete a scholarship audition. (see dates below)
  3. You must register through Audition Application Database..
  4. Please click on Audition Application Info 2008 and provide the required info.
  5. You must mail to Mr. Randall Coleman a letter of recommendation on your
    school's staionery prior to your audition. The address is:

2008 AUDITION Dates:

  • Thursday, January 31 (for HONOR Band Participants)
  • Monday, February 18
  • Saturday, March 1
  • Saturday, May 3

The wind/brass audition will consist of:

  • a self-prepared piece of 3 - 5 minutes
  • major scales up to 4 flats and 4 sharps
  • sight reading

    *Beinning in 2008, ALL students auditioning for a marching band scholarship (and auditioning for the marching band) are required to provide a letter of recommendation from their current band director prior to their scholarship audition. That letter should be on school stationery and mailed to Mr. Coleman prior to the audition:

  • Your first name and last name
  • Your instrument on which you will audition
  • The date on which you'd like to audition

  • All percussionists auditioning for a marching band scholarship must present a signed letter of recommendation from their high school band director on letterhead prior to their audition.
  • All students auditioning for a marching band scholarship on percussion must perform a published piece.
